Significance:
1859 location of the town of Gold Hill which is a National Historic District. Located west of Boulder and known as an important archaeological site, the historic area includes the ruins of the Horsfal Mine and one of Colorado's earliest Masonic halls.

Threat When Listed:
Encroachment

Since Listing: Within months of listing, Boulder County purchased the site and has maintained the property as open space. Boulder County is currently working to acquire additional adjoining land, and plans to create trails and interpretation of the original site.
