Extreme Vandalism
Since Listing:
As part of the area's Canyon Pintado Project, the site falls into phase II of trail and
interpretive installation being conducted by the Bureau of Land Management. Although interpretive signs were
installed, they quickly faded and funding to develop trails in this section of the canyon has yet to be secured.
Vandalism and litter remain a problem. New interpretive signage is planned as are increased staff visits to
the site to decrease the risk of vandalism. The BLM and Colorado Preservation, Inc. will work together
to develop funds to continue the Canyon Pintado Project.
