The Preservation Toolbox at Work: The Success of the Armstrong Hotel

Steve Levinger says he and his wife, Missy, are not just investors, they are also adventurers. The adventure they embarked on in 2003, rehabilitating the Armstrong Hotel in Fort Collins, has turned out to be an investment that is certainly paying off for them. Located on the northwest corner of College Avenue and Olive Street in Fort Collins, this mixed-use project rehabilitated the vacant and deteriorating 1923 hotel building into first floor storefronts with a boutique hotel on the upper floors. Since re-opening the historic hotel in 2004, this family-run business has been more successful than the Levingers could have ever forecasted.
