Colorado’s First Lady, Jeannie Ritter, Colorado Preservation, Inc. and our Youth Summit partners and sponsors welcome you to the Southwest Archaeology Experience. You are already making history—the Colorado Youth Summit offers the only statewide program in the nation to directly involve youth in decision-making about historic places.
Colorado Preservation, Inc., the Colorado Historical Society, the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, San Juan National Forest, Colorado Humanities, Teaching with Primary Sources, Colorado Tourism Office, Mesa Verde Country and Crow Canyon Archaeological Center and other state and local organizations have prepared an extensive program for you.
Thank you to our sponsors-particularly the State Historical Fund, the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, United States Forest Service, Anschutz Family Foundation, Ballantine Family Foundation, Colorado Humanities, Teaching with Primary Sources, and Adams 12 School District. The support of these generous sponsors makes this educational event possible.
Now it is your turn! Help make history! We need your feedback and recommendations on how to better share, save, and understand the historic places in southwest Colorado. As you will see, southwest Colorado boasts historic treasures with international significance, but protection of those places faces challenges. We look forward to hearing your ideas!
