For the past 35 years, our annual awards dinner has been named in honor of Dana Crawford, a true visionary and one of our state’s most esteemed preservationists. Dana was a preservation pioneer who demonstrated that saving historic buildings could be economically beneficial. The Dana Crawford and State Honor Awards recognize individuals, organizations, public agencies, and businesses from across the state whose work exemplifies excellence in historic preservation. Dana embodied the dedication to preservation that CPI celebrates each year at this event.

Dana Crawford Award

Koncilja Family, Pueblo

The Koncilja family’s unwavering support of preservation in Pueblo has left an indelible mark, one CPI has seen firsthand at this year’s On the Road event. From your innovative efforts to preserve and celebrate neon signage through Neon Alley, to your advocacy for civic landmarks like the City Park Bath House, to your stewardship of iconic properties such as the Union Depot and Orman Mansion. These projects not only continue Pueblo’s architectural heritage, but they create places of community and inspire the next generation to rethink historic resources in their own community by demonstrating the power of place.
