Saving Places Conference Recaps

Held in Denver from February 11–13, the 2026 Saving Places Conference celebrated the past, present, and future of historic preservation through dynamic sessions, tours, networking events, and workforce development conversations.

The 2025 Saving Places Conference, held from January 29 to February 1 at the picturesque Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, successfully brought together passionate individuals dedicated to the theme of “intangible heritage.”

The 2024 Saving Places Conference, held from January 31st to February 2nd, was a resounding success. 2024s theme focused on the preservation of our cultural heritage and ensuring its enduring relevance for generations to come.

Saving Places 2023 celebrated the heart of preservation, the people, partners and funders making a difference in communities throughout Colorado.

“Perspectives in Preservation;” the overarching theme of bringing voices that have been lost, sidelined, or overlooked within the preservation community and beyond.

Saving Places® went virtual for 2021! The conference’s theme of Preservation in Action speaks to what many of us experienced in the wave of 2020 and its ripple effects.

“A Focus on the Future” took a special look at different ways education impacts historic preservation, archaeology, planning, and associated fields.

A Call to Action. Every generation chooses what they save. How do individual communities deal with common issues?

“The Power of Place: From the Mountains to the Plains,” celebrated Colorado’s diverse history and provided an opportunity to shed light on underrepresented sites and communities.
